The most popular insurance product that our clients are purchasing is Manulife's COVID-19 Pandemic plan. This plan covers you in the event you test positive in destination and are required to quarantine for up to 14 days. Additionally it has a full emergency medical insurance component as well. On average the plan costs about $35 per person per week... which, in the case of unforeseen quarantine costs, is an amazing bargain.

Because air travel is also rather "random" these days, clients will often pair their COVID-19 plan with a Non-Medical plan for about $80/pp/week to benefit from Blink flight assistance (3h+ delay -> $40 auto-transfers into your account; 6h+ delay or cancellation -> $140 auto-transfers into your account) and all the other travel interruption protections should things go sideways while away.

General benefits of the COVID-19 Pandemic plan:

If you (or any of 3 travel companions) have to quarantine the you are covered for up to
- max $200/day max 14 days ($2800)
  +
- max $500 econo flight home
The plan also provides full emergency medical coverage
If you have to quarantine (and don't need medical care) you do NOT need to immediately contact Manulife....the plan automatically extends.
On receiving a positve test result you can simply arrange your extended accommodation (any commercial accommodation, including Airbnb) and go enjoy your extended stay.
You must contact Manulife / ACM (Manulife's claims handler) within 30 days post your positive test result
If you require emergency medical care you MUST contact Manulife / ACM immediately prior to seeking care (or your coverage may be limited)
The plan can be purchased any time before your departure date
The plan can be cancelled for full refund any time before departure date
Quarantine cover is still valid even if you have had covid before departure
- Medical cover could be impacted depending on how long ago you had COVID and if you needed medical care vs. just stayed home to recover)
Cost is about $30 per person per week of travel
You can purchase from your travel agent even if you didn't book your trip through your agent.
